What the heck are those two thinking joining something that they don't really understand. They should have just watch the whole scene rather that being on the it. What they though would be fun became a harmful situation for them. Never put yourself in a situation that you don't know, lesson learned.

Maybe they thought that protest was a parade of two clashing groups.

Well, all I can say is SERVES THEM RIGHT. The last thing you'll do in a war-thorn country is to meddle with the local affairs and for what kind of reasons? "fun"? See what happens to this "fun". We should all be responsible to our own welfare and safety when we are outside our safe zones and our country. Our own neighborhood are not that completely safe, then what makes you think that another country's isn't.

These is the example on how Americans put their nose to business which aren't really theirs. Have you heard of "curiosity kills the cat", well in this video, curiosity almost killed the Americans ow where they?

I have to agree with Duke here. A really simple case of people sticking their noses to where it doesn't belong resulting into a catastrophe. Moral lesson is, mind your own business. If you are a tourist or an expat then know your place, there are a lot of good things to see rather than meddling with the local affairs of the people in a country you are a stranger in. It is a good thing I am no American.

Ho-oh

Can you share some more videos where one good event turned into a terrible death defying scene? Really wanted to be surprised about these kind of things.

So what happened last April 11, 2002 in Caracas Venezuela:

Caracas, Venezuela; April 11, 2002: Two gringos from Chicago decide to join an Opposition march to Miraflores Palace, home of Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez. Their purpose for joining the march was not so much political, simply to experience an exciting cultural phenomenon.

What begins as a peaceful protest soon turns into tragedy as supporters and opponents of Chavez clash in the streets, putting the two gringos into harm's way and sending Venezuela into turmoil.

That was just an adventure gone sour. Most of the time we all take part in activities without any clue that they could turn serious. It was a political protest so it was unwise of them to take part in the whole march I do not think it is something unique to Americans alone. I can hardly count the number of times I have taken part in otherwise risky plots.
