I guess you are right stan (the double "post"-er) but do you think he haven't done making changes in his life regarding his country? I think he has but it has not worked for him ever since. I guess there are various factors that made him decide to leave his country for a better life and maybe that is what almost all expats have in their minds. Maybe it is the twisted system of their government, environmental and weather factors, personal and judicial reasons or more.
Comment #7 stan (63.176.159.103) - 11/19/08 14:23
you do have a good point there Jacque. And I have no idea why that posted twice. I only typed it once.

Is there a place in Caribbean which is not so crowded by expats? I would like to retire in very peaceful place, out of the buzzling crowd but still have the basic and modern necessities like one offered in modern cities.
Comment #10 Net Scourge (63.176.159.46) - 05/07/09 17:35
Maybe this is what you meant of a peaceful place huh? Edgar?"A Private Island for Non-Millionaires
The Renaissance Aruba Beach Resort & Casino has more than 500 rooms. It also has a private island that you can escape to. But it is not secluded; you have to share it with others.
As a guest at the hotel you have access to Renaissance Island, a 40-acre Caribbean atoll with two beaches just off the coast. Its facilities include watersport rentals, a grill, coffee bar, fitness center, and spa."
The link provides more information on these private islands in Caribbean

here have been several articles published about Margarita Island, Venezuela in the last few months. (Margarita Island is located in the Southern Caribbean, just off the northern coast of Venezuela - it is the State of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela). One such article suggested that you could retire to this island on $800 a month. I think it’s time to set the record straight.According to Immigration, in order to obtain a Retirement Visa, you must prove a monthly income of $1, 200 U.S., and an additional $500 per month for each dependent. Could you actually live on $800 U.S. per month? It is possible if you are willing to live a more “Latin-style” lifestyle. For example, eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and using less canned and processed food.

Stan, whoever attacked you for your post must have heard what you just said from someone else and it even gets worse that you are repeating it. People need to understand that these small mistakes like posting a reply more than twice arise beyond our control like slow internet connection and stuff.Stop calling the place you live boring. Boredom does not arise out of a place...blame the people and entirely you for not taking steps to make life something to laugh about.

Eduardo, I got just the place for you: Bavaro, eastern Dominican Republic. Check it out. You can fly into Punta Cana International airport.

Margarita Island is indeed the place to be. There is the notion that the more time you spend in a place, the more its thrill disappears. The step of wanting to move away from home is normal provided you do not slump into that kind of feeling again. There is no guarantee that you will like the place forever!
Comment #16 Olivia (63.176.159.91) - 08/22/09 20:25
Why are you people sick of Europe? Are you nuts? I would love to go in there, , , , i just wish i could. And i have to agree with stan. Everywhere you go there are really problems to occur. And if you are looking for a place with less expats or with a little population then you will find it hard to do so. Expats are moving and are everywhere. Like you who wants to go somewhere else.
Comment #17 anie (63.176.159.132) - 09/04/09 23:06
I agree with you Olivia! we should go to Europe, and those who are already sick of Europe, change place with us, in our countries

There is no place like home...I felt the same way when I lost my job for 10 years and can't find any job no matter how I tried. So I decided to relocate in another island far away from home. Now that I am here, I slowly realized that is still no place like home.
Comment #20 Lee (63.176.159.168) - 10/12/09 02:57
Is there Chinese community or something close to that in this Margarita Island. If I where to decide to live there that's my main requirement to a place. I still love to bring my culture and continue it on every place I go.

Where I come from there is a saying that "the heat is not in the blanket", and I think it applies to this thread. No matter where you live, the life style you lead and the relationships you maintain will follow you anywhere you go. I mean that we tend to follow a pattern, live in a similar fashion and make similar friends wherever we are. So, ok, we sell everything and set sail for Margarita Island. We get a place and start visiting the bars on the water front and making friends. Within a year we end up as an actor in the very same play we were in before. Then we get sick and tired of that too. My advice is to straighten up wherever you are and, be happy! It´s all in your mind...

I don't live in Europe and I don't want live there. But I would love to visit Europe. As a few Have said there is not place like home. Although many times you have to live abroad for some reasons. If I had the chance to go back to my country. I will not think it twice. So enjoy what you have and if you are looking for the perfect place with no problems . You are really westing your time.

I could never get sick and tired of living somewhere like Europe, no doubt, but Margarita truly is a blessing in the Caribbean waters. I would surely trade a European life for such as this.
Comment #24 Jojo (63.176.159.24) - 12/16/09 23:34
Yeah, a place like Europe would be one of the place that i would certainly be considering on moving. But those Caribbean islands are also wonderful, imaging being in a place where the sun is always there to heat up all that surrounds you, the lovely beaches, the lovely ladies, i certainly could not wait to be one of those lovely islands. I certainly would want to be there. Smile. .
