Crocheted Hair Cap

I was shopping at the many stands right off of the cruise ship 1 year ago. I purchased a crochet hair net with beads from a lady down at the far end of the booths. She hand makes them and I think this was all she was selling. I love the one I bought from her and wish I would have purchased one in each color. I don't know that I will ever make it back down to Margarita Island on anothe cruise. Please help me find this lady or someone they know that makes these. Thanks

I would suggest you find another expert on the crocheting and ask him/her to duplicate the one that you have bought (crocheted hair net) from your last vacation. I think that would be cheaper than going to the same cruise. Or if your lucky enough find a friend which is going or someone planning on going there and ask them to buy that stuff for you, if it is still there.

It is pretty hard to find someone when you do not have thier name. Please provide the name of the woman or the name of the stand(if there was a name on it) and maybe we can help you out.

Any luck on your hair net? Usually stuffs like these are also sold on flea markets. Well try you luck on those places and you might find identical or better one on there too.

Glynna I hope you've found your hair net you wanted but I know how you feel. There are so many amazing things you can find on trips such as your that are handmade. A couple of years ago my mother went somewhere near Costa Rica and brought back tons of cool stuff.

You might be able to find these type of things on the internet if you do a web search and than you could purchase them and have the things sent to you.

Have you guys heard of a knitted cap that actually serves a two purpose/ it is a cap as well as a hair! Yes it is here is how it is made:

Size: Women's small (21 inches), medium (22 inches), and large (23 inches)

Materials:

* 50G FIZZ yarn, 1 (2, 2) skeins

* Size 9 (5.5mm) circular knitting needle, plus set of size 9 double pointed knitting Needles... or size needed to obtain gauge

Guage: 12 stitches and 16 rows = 4"

Directions:

Cast on 60 (66, 72) stitches. Join, being careful not to twist. Knit around until hat measures 6" (6.5", 7") from beginning.

Decrease rounds:

Round 1: *Knit 8 (9, 10), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Rounds 2, 4, 6, and 8: Knit.

Round 3: *Knit 7 (8, 9), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 5: *Knit 6 (7, 8), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 7: *Knit 5 (6, 7), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 9: *Knit 4 (5, 6), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 10: *Knit 3 (4, 5), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 11: *Knit 2 (3, 4), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 12: *Knit 1 (2, 3), k2tog;* repeat from * to end of round.

Round 13:

* For small hat: k2tog around.

* For medium sized hat: knit 1, k2tog around.

* For large hat: knit 2, k2tog around.

(For medium and large sized hats, continue decreasing until knitting 2tog around.)

Cut the yarn leaving a 10" tail. Thread yarn through the remaining stitches. Fasten off on the knit side of the hat. Turn hat so that the purl side is on the outside.

You have trouble locating another crotchet because you are of the mindset that you will never find such an item in any other place. It would be tedious for us or someone else to try and locate that particular person because they could have closed business or relocated.

Try moving around and not necessarily on that island. Variety is the spice of life and soon, you will notice that there are others even more talented

I agree that it is probably impossible to find the same sales lady without name or place.

I would also opt for looking on the web. Alternatively why don't you try checking out a couple of flea markets that have arts & crafts stands? I've seen similar looking things there.

You can always try shopping for the same item on some flea markets or in some online shopping sites.

As i browse the net for some info on where to order some good caps with a cute designs i happen to pass through this site. They have here lots of cute designs that i think would appeal more on ladies.

Anyway, you can always have the time to look t this link..

Know what, instead of hiring someone to do the hair cap, i think it would be much better if you try learning crocheting yourself. That way you can replicate the hair cap and you can also do some more if you want.

If you want, you can check out the net for some online crochet instructions for you to learn the basics of crocheting.

Best of luck to your crocheting.

Learning how to crochet is not going to be as easy as one may try to make it sound, but it is most definitely something that is worth it.

Why would a guy want to learn how to crochet? Is this even done?

Being a guy and learning how to crochet is actually not that bad. Crochet is not just for girls, I know a man who knows how to crochet and he is indeed good in that craft. You might want to see his works, they are real good.

I think learning crochet is not a bad idea at all. You just have to give some time in learning this craft. Thanks.

That is very true Boyet, there are indeed lots of guys who tries crochet and I must say that they really do great while doing such craft. I would suggest that people be really flexible and they should try lots of new things. We should not close our doors to his or to that only, we should let those new ideas coming, regardless of our genders. Have a great day.
